Chuck Hill Music

Biography

Chuck Hill is an indie musician, guitarist, composer, and producer who is mainly known for his work in jazz and blues. Chuck has been active in the Tampa Bay scene since 1995, working with his own groups (Jazz Soup, Soho Indigo) as well as others (Carrollwood Jukebox Big Band, Clearwater Community Jazz Band, the Rubensteins). He has also played in several local musical theatre productions.

Though mostly self taught, Chuck has also studied with jazz guitarist Ted Shumate, taken online lessons with Dave Stryker and others, and studied on Berklee Online.  All of these experiences have informed his playing and writing.

Although Chuck's written a few songs over the years he started writing in earnest during the Covid shutdown and afterwards, developing arrangements for a Friday Morning horn combo as restrictions eased up. These rehearsals served as a precursor to subsequent recordings.

Chuck has recorded or appeared on multiple albums, including local releases by Jazz Soup, Soho Indigo and the Rubensteins. His most recent recording project is his self produced album, Musings, a collection of ten original compositions recorded with the FM Players, and released in 2025.
